Quilting is a microcosm of life. You make mistakes, things don’t work out like you plan, and you are forced to devise creative solutions. Over the last couple of months, challenges abounded. Staff turnover, surgery, and a website down due to hacking.
It all seems better when you are long arming a beautiful quilt in a beautiful, air-conditioned shop on a hot summer day. Martha (now works at the shop on Thursdays) finished piecing this lovely quilt. It is Brave, from Anna Maria Horner.
I spent the day ruler quilting the top. I want to finish the sample so that you can see just how beautiful her fabrics are. We will be teaching this quilt on Wednesday nights in January. The class is limited to 12.
The shop is now open Wednesday-Saturday from 10-5.
We will be having charity quilt nights on Tuesday nights from 7-9. Our goal is to raise money for worthy local charities.
The lovely purple quilt is our first charity quilt. Four more will be finished within a couple of months.
In the fall we will have an online raffle. So far, we have three submissions for consideration. We will make the final decision on the nonprofits to get the raffle money at the end of August. (The group making the charity quilts will select the recipients.) So, it is not too late to submit!
I hope to see you in the shop soon. We have some lovely new fabrics.
